Calling for Codex + visionOS Talks. I Plan to Talk About Various Development Styles

On the event page for the first Codex + visionOS Hack #1 @ Motoyawata, we are looking for Codex / visionOS talks. This time, I want to write about talks at "Engawa AI x XR." More than anything, I want to lower the barrier to giving a presentation. Through attending and speaking at various events so far, one thing I have felt is that there is often quite a gap between speakers and participants.

That gap can create a certain kind of authority, and it may also prevent awkward heckling because of that separation. Still, I think presenting something does not have to be such a large-scale thing. More specifically, I think it is fine to share something while it is still in progress, refine it from there, and then speak properly about it at another event. With the idea of making things more casual and relaxed, I want to write about how this event calls these kinds of presentations "talks."

Talks at Engawa AI x XR

At Engawa AI x XR, I am thinking of running things with a policy that you do not need to stand in front of everyone to present something, and slides are not required. Of course, slides are fine too, and if you want to reuse part of something like a replay version of a previous talk, that is also OK.

For the length, I am thinking it is fine whether you talk a lot or for just five minutes. That said, if one person ends up talking endlessly, we might set some kind of limit. There may also be times when nobody wants to speak in the first place. Content can be about something you built or something you tried. In any case, I want to create an atmosphere where people can present casually.

The Talk I Am Thinking of Giving

Since this is the first event, I think for a while I will need to be central in providing topics. At first I was thinking of doing a Seiro MCP workshop this time, but after I started planning the event, things around us kept moving, and the situation around Codex + visionOS development changed in various ways. So I am thinking of giving a broad talk on this theme:

  • Current development styles for building visionOS apps with Codex

Of course, Seiro MCP will come up, and I also plan to talk about other methods. It feels a bit odd to say this myself, but I think this is a topic that has not been discussed very much across different approaches.

Talks Can Be AI-Only or XR-Only

There may be people building apps for visionOS without using AI very much. If so, I think Codex-only content would still be useful. In other words, we are recruiting participants for an event where talks can be only about Codex information, or conversely only about visionOS. In the end, for people trying to do AI x XR, information about either side can be useful. I wanted the event to keep a broad entrance, where the topic does not necessarily have to be strictly AI x XR.

We Are Still Very Much Looking for Participants

Whether you have a topic or not, if you are interested in development with Codex or visionOS, please join us. Let's build more momentum for AI x XR from Chiba. Of course, people who just want to listen are also very welcome.
