The Real First Engawa AI x XR Ended Successfully

Engawa AI x XR sign placed in front of the venue

The first Engawa AI x XR event was held on August 1. As I have written about a few times, the real first session was canceled because of a typhoon. So the second session became our first event.

The photo, by the way, shows the Engawa AI x XR sign placed in front of the venue. The venue is set a little back from the street, like part of a row house, so I made the sign to make it easier to find. I wrote on it in chalk to give it a more analog feel.

This report is a little overdue, but here it is.

Steam Machine Review: This Device May Also Influence XR

Photo of Steam Machine

The long-rumored Steam Machine suddenly went on sale on June 23. Personally, I thought it would launch around the same time as Steam Frame, meaning a little later, so it caught me completely off guard. But I had already decided before launch that I was going to buy it, so I went to the sales site on release day and purchased one. It arrived on June 30. I have spent some time setting it up, and now that a few things have become clear, I will write a review.

Making Setup Easier: Seiro MCP v0.5.0 Released

Sometimes I wonder whether Seiro MCP is still necessary now that even Xcode has MCP. But from the perspective of autonomous coding, I think Seiro MCP has the advantage of being lightweight and easy to handle. In that sense, there is still plenty of room to improve it as a product, which led to this release. This update adds fixes and features with the stance of making setup as easy as possible.

I Finally Hit a Major Milestone While Still Active as an Implementer

People call turning 30 a major milestone, and they say the same about turning 40. Here, the milestone means turning 50. Today, March 11, I finally turned 50. For the past 15 years, it has become my birthday routine to watch special programs about the Great East Japan Earthquake, look back on the past, and think about my own future.

My Personal Top 5 Best Buys of 2025

I did not write a best-buys entry in 2024, but if I had, it would probably have been the Vision Pro. That personal interest continued, and in 2025 I bought many accessories and related items around XR. So here are my top five best buys of 2025.

Congratulations on 20 years of CSS Nite! I went to the reunion event

A reunion venue packed with familiar faces

Apparently CSS Nite has now reached its 20th anniversary. A reunion event was held in Shibuya, so I went. I had been attending from quite early on, and even if I limit the count to Shift, I spoke there for 15 consecutive years starting in 2007. Incidentally, I have never attended anything called a reunion for elementary, junior high, or high school, so this was my first reunion of any kind.

Which modern Android is the best buy for testing?

I have lived while moving back and forth between Windows and macOS, and in the same way I have switched between iOS and Android depending on the period. Right now, my main device is iOS.

For Android, I have a Sony XZs SO-03J that I bought in 2018. I have started wanting to get a device with a more modern Android OS.

If Spatial Notes Can Appear on Even G1 During Presentations, What Should They Display?

The exhibit at LODGE XR Talk Vol.30 finished successfully, and I received various kinds of feedback. On my local machine, I can now give a presentation with Markdown-based web slides while displaying arbitrary information on the Even G1 display. I thought all that remained was to display whatever content I liked.

But once I actually started displaying things, I realized that there seem to be many different types of information that could go there. This time, I will focus on what should be displayed.
