VisionDevCamp Tokyo 2025 Will Be Held for Three Days Starting April 11

VisionDevCamp Tokyo website

VisionDevCamp is a hackathon event dedicated to creating applications for Apple Vision Pro and visionOS.

The official website is here.

VisionDevCamp Tokyo 2025 is a hackathon event held over three weekend days, from April 11 to 13, 2025. Incidentally, through a bit of a connection, I am helping out as one of the organizing members.

As the name Tokyo suggests, it will be held in Tokyo, but the event itself has originally been held in areas outside Tokyo, and this will be its first time in Japan. Its roots go back to a hackathon event that has continued in Silicon Valley since 2007, originally held as a hackathon for Apple's iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad. VisionDevCamp itself was first held in 2024.

The venue is the open collaboration hub LODGE in Tokyo, as well as online. The online venue is a dedicated venue for people who own a Vision Pro, and the venue itself is a space that can be accessed with Vision Pro. There is an explanation at the link below.

I think this effort is quite ambitious as well. By the way, people who do not own a Vision Pro can also participate at the offline venue.

> Vision Pro units will be available for on-site participants on the day of the event, so even those who do not own a Vision Pro can join the hackathon.

So people who have never touched a Vision Pro can feel at ease. Reliable mentors are also expected to be at the venue, which makes it even more reassuring.

My Thoughts on the Event

The first time I joined a hackathon using Vision Pro was at a hackathon event held at "Hobonichi" exactly one year ago.

At the time, I did not yet own a Vision Pro, and therefore had never installed an app on an actual device. On the day of the event, I was able to borrow a Vision Pro and learned, while breaking into a cold sweat, how to install on a real device.

I was blessed with good teammates, and it was extremely fun to spend such an intense time discussing ideas together as a team while moving development forward. That is exactly why I wanted to help make hackathon events like this more lively, which led to me helping out with VisionDevCamp this time.

I do not think people need to hesitate just because they have no experience developing for Vision Pro. A hackathon is a team effort, so there are any number of ways to contribute, such as taking charge of planning and presentation, or working hard on UI design.

Registration is here. If you buy a ticket and participate, seven meals are included as well, so it is sure to be three days where you can focus on the hackathon.

On Sunday, March 16, there will also be an ideathon as a pre-event, so check that out too.

By the way, I will also be at the VisionDevCamp Tokyo 2025 venue for all three days, so feel free to say hello.
