I will not be on the visionOS TC stage, but I still want to talk about VR180 today

Japan's specialized visionOS conference, visionOS TC, will be held from December 6 to 7. Ahead of the conference, there was a call for speakers, and I applied as well. Unfortunately, my lightning talk was accepted only as a backup. So I will write about what I wanted to talk about.

If any study group finds this topic interesting, I would be happy to come give the talk. The materials are expected to be ready by the event date, and of course I do not require an honorarium, so please consider it.

Since I am technically a backup and may still speak if something unexpected happens, this time I will only write about the direction of the talk I wanted to give.

I bought a Dual Fish lens, but there are still so many things I do not understand

After buying Vision Pro, what stood out most to me was the beauty of VR video. Apple TV has only a small number of programs, but some are interesting, and it was only a matter of time before I wanted to try shooting my own.

That led to this series of entries:

I have been trying things and ended up where I am now. Canon's VR180 lenses, for example, were released several years ago, and a lot of information was posted at the time. Still, it honestly felt too specialized and difficult for me.

When I recently looked into current information again, I found various new developments. The environment around APMP (Apple Projected Media Profile) has reached Canon's utilities, with export support added in an update at some point, and Vimeo support is also moving forward. I have also learned that newer models include convenient features for beginners working with VR180 video.

So although the talk would be centered on Canon, my planned presentation was to summarize current trends, especially for people starting now. At least for me, it is information I would have liked to know at the beginning, so if you are interested, please invite me.

The event itself will be held at Abema Towers on the 6th and Apple Japan CafeMacs on the 7th. It seems tickets are still available, so I hope people will attend.
