I joined JSR Meetup and gave a short LT about slow types
On May 3, an event called JSR Meetup was held in Conference Room 4 on the 8th floor of Taito City Hall. It was my first time attending an event at Taito City Hall, and as someone living toward Chiba, it was an easy and welcome location to access.
As someone who organizes Okachi.js, a JavaScript study group centered around Okachimachi, I would be happy to see more events held in this area. This time the event was packed with content, including historical background and hands-on material. I hope it happens again.
JSR is a package registry, and I have introduced the basics of it on this site before.
The best-known JavaScript package registry is npm, but seeing something new emerge at that layer felt like a rare opportunity, so I had been following it.
While reading the documentation, I came across something I did not understand: "slow types." I had not encountered a term with that name before, so I wondered what it meant. I dug through the documentation, followed the code, gathered the information I could find, and turned it into the slides for my lightning talk that day, "What are slow types?"
However, the schedule was running late that day, and due to venue constraints I had to rush through the introduction in about three minutes. I would like to talk about it properly, so if there is a study group or internal event that seems related to JSR, feel free to invite me. I can come fairly casually. It would be helpful to have around 10 to 15 minutes.
I will keep writing when I pick up more information related to JSR.
