I somehow ended up buying an EOS R5 Mark II

EOS siblings

I already mentioned it casually in another entry, so this report is out of order, but I bought a Canon EOS R5 Mark II. It came as a set with the RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE. I had not planned to buy this this year, but the flow of fate led me to it.

There is someone named Bento. He is well known in the Vision Pro community, and became even more known after buying the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, which costs several million yen.

One day, Bento-san decided to part with his Canon EOS R5 Mark II and RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE. In an earlier entry, I had bought an EOS R50 V and a VR144 lens, but although I did not say it to anyone, I had been feeling that they might not quite suit how I wanted to use them.

Unfortunately, for Vision Pro use, the R50 V simply does not have enough resolution. It is a luxurious complaint, since even 4K is not enough. That said, I still plan to use the R50 V for purposes beyond VR, so I am not dissatisfied with the camera itself. But for Vision Pro, I had concluded that I might not use it.

Then came the opportunity to take over the Canon EOS R5 Mark II and RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE. Various accessory extras would be included too. My heart moved, and when both the heart and body move, it is probably better to follow the compass of the heart. So I contacted him and bought it.

This is actually my first full-frame camera. As a set, it was also quite expensive. I need to make it worthwhile. Since then, I have been experimenting through trial and error. Even casually shot video has a decent resolution when viewed on Vision Pro. The Canon EOS R5 Mark II can shoot 8K video. Personally, I think VR180 video may need 8K at minimum.

However, there are drawbacks too. The RF-S3.9mm F3.5 STM DUAL FISHEYE, the VR144 lens I used with the R50 V, supported autofocus. The RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE is manual focus only. On top of that, VR180 lenses easily capture unwanted things in the frame. There seem to be many points to be careful about.

Incidentally, I later passed the RF-S3.9mm F3.5 STM DUAL FISHEYE on to someone else, which I am grateful for. All kinds of things keep circulating through the world.
