I joined the Virtual Reality Society of Japan
I joined this year. Since it is a long-established academic society, many people may be thinking, "Why now?" It may not be something worth going out of my way to write about. However,
by writing it anyway, I think it becomes a declaration of intent to myself and to those around me that this year I will make XR a main focus and work harder at it.
Well, let us look back at the end of the year and see what kind of results came out of it.
Actually, I had never joined an academic society before. I joined after being influenced by my acquaintance Morimoto, who had joined one a little while ago.
So the Virtual Reality Society of Japan
is the first academic society I have joined in my life. I am participating as a regular member, thanks to the introduction, so I hope to do some kind of activity within the society in my own way. First, I am thinking of joining some kind of gathering.
Apple's Vision Pro is about to be released. Will it change society in a major way, or will it become a passing boom and bring yet another "this time for real" VR year that never actually arrives? I do not know what will happen yet, but I will continue XR research as one part of my own broader frontend work.
